Current power strips are obsolete for many reasons. The most obvious problem is the use of a single power switch for the entire strip. You may have 5 items connected, and you may need to turn OFF 3 and keep the other 2 ON. How can you do it with one switch? The answer: You leave the power strip ON all the time consuming more standby energy.

The use of rocker switches for each individual plug increases your energy savings by allowing you to turn them on/off when needed.
